Dianne has been married to Dennis for almost 40 years, and they have two adult children, Nathan and Kelly, and a spoilt elderly cat named Angus. Over the past few years the family has increased with the welcome additions of daughter-in-law Rebecca, son-in-law Matthew, and two beautiful grandchildren, Cooper (4) and Samantha (18 months). Dianne and Dennis have lived in Devonport all of their married life, and their home for the past 28 years is a heritage house, with a Category B listing, in the North Shore District Plan.
Dianne and Dennis have owned and operated their family business, Fleet St. Panelbeaters Ltd, in Devonport since 1971. Nathan joined the business almost 20 years ago, and now shares the management responsibilities. Kelly, also worked in Devonport for about 11 years as a travel consultant, managing the Devonport ‘House of Travel’ for a period, until retiring to enjoy being a full time mother.
Dianne was appointed a JP (Justice of the Peace) in 1996, a marriage celebrant in 1997 and a civil union celebrant in 2004.
Currently, Dianne’s main form of relaxation is boating, which allows her to pursue her passion for fishing and scuba diving. She enjoys reading, and when time permits, the challenge of cryptic crosswords and jigsaws. Dianne also enjoys listening to music and attending live shows. She walks regularly for fitness, and is an enthusiastic spectator of all sports. In the past she was a keen tennis player and gym attendee, however unfortunately these days her busy life does not allow active time for these interests. Her past involvement however, saw her appointed a life member of the Ngataringa Tennis Club in 1992, and in recognition of her community contribution Devonport Rotary Club awarded her a Paul Harris Fellowship in 1998. Dianne also loves cooking, and regularly scans recipe books for different and new ideas.
In the past Dianne spent a considerable amount of time supporting, and where possible, traveling with Dennis, when he was actively refereeing rugby league at an international level.
Dianne has completed and passed 7 papers towards an Accountancy Degree through Massey University, however she has put any further study on hold until she has time available to complete the degree. She is currently undertaking a Sign Language course at Glenfield College, along with her daughter Kelly.
